Alexia Bedat is an Associate at Klaris whose clients range from podcast and audiobook production companies to documentary filmmakers and studios. Her practice includes pre-publication and pre-broadcast review; fair use analysis; IP licensing; negotiating and drafting development, financing and distribution agreements and, acting as production counsel in the film, television and audio industries. As part of her work, Alexia helps content creators navigate their licensing needs and develop their IP responsibly, keeping in mind the implications of constantly evolving technologies and emerging distribution models.
Alexia is passionate about the podcast/audio space and a regular speaker on legal trends and developments in the media & entertainment industries generally, including appearances at South by Southwest (SXSW), ARinAction, PodFest, Clubhouse (Podcasting, Seriously), Velocity of Content and the Binge Factor podcasts.
Prior to joining Klaris, Alexia worked as a law clerk at BuzzFeed, where she supported the news team, and as a paralegal at law firms specializing in media law in both London and Paris. She holds a law degree from the University of Cambridge and an LL.M. from Columbia Law School. Alexia was formerly the Co-Chair of Media Law Resource Center’s Pre-Publication/Pre- Broadcast Committee and recently launched the Media Deals Committee, where she organizes educational calls with and for colleagues from the media bar.
