Josh Gutfreund is a General Partner at GOAL Ventures, which invests in venture stage companies in games, digital media, and related technologies on a global basis. GOAL is a sector-focused and stage-agnostic venture investor based in Los Angeles. Josh has worked with founders, entrepreneurs, and growth companies through various principal investing activities for more than 25 years, with the majority of those efforts focused on media, content, advertising, and related technology businesses. He was a General Partner at Clarity Partners since the firm’s formation and through its investment of over $1.5 billion across several funds and partnerships over 15 years. Prior to Clarity, Mr. Gutfreund was a Partner at Rader Reinfrank & Co., a venture capital and growth equity fund, an Associate Director at A. Jerrold Perenchio’s Chartwell Partners, and an Associate at Warburg Pincus, focused on venture and private equity. Josh’s numerous Board-related activities have included Village Roadshow Entertainment Group (involved in major motion picture libraries, film finance and production, and recorded music and music publishing through Concord Music), Oxygen Media (cable programming network), BASE Entertainment (live entertainment productions, programming rights, venues, and IP), xSides Corporation (IP patent portfolio), Naylor (business-to-business information and events), Multex (online financial information), BladeRunner Interactive (video game publishing via JV with Westwood Studios), and OpTel (wireless cable television). Gutfreund holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University and an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business.
